About Us

One School of the Arts cultivates an active learning environment where scholars participate and experience their education. Classrooms are like studios or labs, and every teacher’s focus is wholehearted engagement. School can be fun while being challenging. Every grade level focuses on a strong educational approach and a foundational objective. Students become scholars, and they are encouraged to discover their strengths, to fail and grow, and to be curious and collaborate.

Through our four pillars of the arts, scholars freely experiment like painters with a palette and scientists with a theory.

We offer a progressive, research-based curriculum that aligns with Florida standards, and balances creativity, technology, and rigor. We champion outdoor fitness and lunchtime recreation, and indoor learning environments are carefully planned. Our teachers are intentional about helping develop character and making real connections with scholars.

Through cultural events, community engagement, service projects, and international experiences, we position our students to become scholars, and therefore, key influencers in today’s world.




From Early Childhood to 12th grade, each educational approach increases daily engagement and focuses on next grade preparedness as well as college and career readiness through creativity, innovation, and collaboration -- which are in demand 21st century skills. The arts are experienced first as enrichment classes and then middle school electives where scholars discover and explore our four pillars. By high school, scholars are choosing their elective track based upon interest, academic guidance, and mentor support. At One School of the Arts, both families and faculty share in the educational story that scholars invent and create throughout their years as an OSOTA scholar.

Whole Brain Teaching

In each classroom you will see Whole Brain Teaching in action. It is a research-based system that utilizes all areas of the brain, keeping scholars engaged throughout their lessons. It is highly interactive and helps them retain more information than the traditional lecture-discussion model.

Steam Labs

Scholars are natural innovators who should be encouraged to ask questions, explore, and work together to search for creative solutions. STEAM LABS integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Scholars don't just learn about these subjects in isolation; they learn how one subject can inform and interact with the other. They also learn important lessons about:

Outdoor Life

The amount of time children spend indoors these days is quite the controversial subject. Our school has taken cues from leading educators in Finland who have demonstrated that time outside in nature is essential to success in education. We choose to eat lunch outdoors, have recess time on our playground, take nature walks, have PE, and other class activities outdoors (weather permitting of course). We want our scholars to discover and appreciate the energizing beauty of nature.

Multiple Intelligences

Multiple Intelligences are the set of nine distinct intelligences identified and developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is limited. Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes nine different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential.

Project Based Learning

Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question, problem, or challenge.

We place a concentrated effort on infusing character education into our daily lessons and use character report cards in conjunction with academic report cards as a tool to help holistically educate our scholars. We believe that character can take you farther than intellect.
